Polk one of N.C.’s first Certified Entrepreneurial Communities
Polk County has become one of only seven communities in 23 Western North Carolina counties to receive the designation of a Certified Entrepreneurial Community (CEC). The CEC program was developed by AdvantageWest and was the first program in the country to certify communities as "entrepreneur-ready." When the program was first announced several years ago, the Polk County Economic Development Commission set a top priority to join the program.
County leaders eye CEC project
Entrepreneurs in Rutherford County might soon get a boost from AdvantageWest and their Certified Entrepreneurial Community (CEC) program. A Rutherford County Roundtable meeting was held Thursday to discuss the program and how to get it started in the area with about 20 business leaders from around the county attending. “An entrepreneur is much more likely to put down roots in an area and invest there,” said Pam Lewis, Advantage West senior vice president of entrepreneurial development.
